In any case, go with the Speakon. It was designed from the outset so that a speaker connector. Connector 1 / 4 inch is a very old design never for the voltage and current of the speaker meant.

The Speakon is never low contact resistance, seamless need to accept larger wire gauge, super durable (I go on?). The more you look more professional.
